Liverpool receive major blow in the pursuit of Hwang Hee-chan
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Wolves are interested in making Hwang Hee-chan’s loan move permanently in January.
After a disappointing spell at RB Leipzig, Hwang Hee-chan was loaned to Wolves. But it seems he has found the spark. The Korean player started the season with some high-grade performances. The 25-year-old player has scored four goals and one assist in 13 games this season across all competitions for Bruno Lage’s team.
It seems Liverpool has high hopes for the player and are keeping the tab on the situation. But the wanderers’ current intentions would come as a massive disadvantage for Michael Edwards’ board.
Bruno Lage’s team is currently eyeing to hold onto the player after he showed positive intent. Wolves now hold the right to extend the loan term, but in order to do so, they have to sell a player from the squad.
It is also believed that Manchester City have joined the race to sign the centre forward. In such a case, Liverpools’ hope to land the player becomes slender.
Jurgen Klopp’s team holds one of the most lethal front threes in the present time. There has been no complaint about the performance of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. But Roberto Firmino has shown some hiccups in recent times.

Even though the African duo has covered up any performance drop in the front line, a bad day in the office for those two can cause some concerns. And the competitiveness of the Premier League suggests that a bad day can cost the title.
If not the immediate replacement, Hwang could give competition to the Brazilian forward and eventually, the team could benefit from such contests.
