Chelsea unwilling to sell Christian Pulisic to direct rivals Liverpool
According to El Nacional (h/t ESPN), Chelsea are unwilling to hand over Christian Pulisic to a direct rival amid interest from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old’s career has been hampered by injuries in the last few years. While he enjoyed a scintillatingly promising debut season at the Bridge, the fragility he possessed was also on display.
Recurrent injuries have sidelined Pulisic for large parts of his Chelsea stint. This has not only hampered his development but also seen him fall down the pecking order. Given the quality in the club’s ranks, it has proven counterproductive.
In such a scenario, Chelsea are looking to offload him and have received interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. It is believed that Barcelona and Liverpool are looking to sign the forward. But, the Merseyside team could face difficulty in convincing the Blues board to sell to them.
While the West Londoners aren’t entirely ruling out a sale, they are reluctant to hand him over to Liverpool. The stance is understandable given that the Reds are one of our biggest direct rivals.
Chelsea’s strategy makes sense given how Pulisic will directly strengthen Liverpool. The Reds have got the best out of their signings in recent years and could potentially turn the winger into a world-class star.
With Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah not getting any younger, it is imperative that Liverpool put a succession plan in place. Pulisic has the potential to take on the mantle of the Reds’ attack and emerge as a key player for us in the years to come.

Unfortunately, the chances of that occurring are minute, given our rivalry with Chelsea. That does not however rule our Pulisic potentially ending up at Anfield. After all, Salah did just that and it worked up fine indeed.
