Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest update on the contracts of Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), the Liverpool management is preparing to begin talks with African star Sadio Mane regarding a new contract.
This comes in the midst of ongoing negotiations with superstar winger Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is currently among the best players in the world and the Reds have18 months to secure his future at the club.
Both Mane and Salah have been on red hot form this season. Amidst several injuries, the consistent performances of the African duo have kept Liverpool’s title hopes alive. However, this has not been a story of one season as they have been critical to the Reds’ rise under Jurgen Klopp.
Although Salah is the poster boy of Klopp’s Liverpool, Mane has played a similarly significant role in the team’s success. It is debatable if the club would have achieved such glory san s both of their wingers.
Amidst such top performances, it’s implausible that Jurgen Klopp’s team would let them leave the club anytime soon. But there have been some hiccups in the contract talks between Salah’s representatives and the Reds board, and the talks look to be taking longer than expected.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the contract talks involving the Egyptian superstar. He suggested that the two parties are yet to reach an agreement despite the general positivity in negotiations.
“We always talk about Mo Salah, and Liverpool are still in talks with him, let’s see when it will be agreed and when everything will be in place, but at the moment, they’re still in talks.”
Mane’s contract is set to expire in 2023, and there’s still time for the board to make their move. But it seems the Reds want to avoid any last-minute rush and are planning to approach Mane’s representatives to discuss the renewal.
“I wanted to add that the Liverpool board are also prepared to meet Sadio Mane and his agents to discuss his new contract.”
The Liverpool board’s promptness in Mane’s case is relatively valid, looking at the high interest from other European clubs. Given the standing both players have at Anfield, it would be apt for both of them to hang up their boots on Merseyside.
“This is the plan for Liverpool to talk and to protect Mane because many clubs are keeping tabs on the situation.”

The growth of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah is directly proportional to Liverpool’s recent accomplishments. The Kopites have been lucky to enjoy the performances of arguably two of the best winners to grace the Premier League.
Hopefully, their story with the club has a few more chapters in it. It is in everyone’s best interest to reach an agreement as quickly as possible.
