Transfer News: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is in the hunt for Toni Kroos
According to El Nacional (h/t Mirror), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has promised Toni Kroos that he’d make an offer to sign him in the summer.
The Real Madrid ace is one of the greatest midfielders of the last decade. His impact on Los Blancos’s success has been enormous. Despite entering his later years, he has kept his form and continues to be a key player for the Spanish giants.
The German ‘snipper’ has bagged two goals and two assists in 13 appearances across all competition. He has been a key component in Carlo Ancelotti’s side taking an early lead in the La Liga championship race.
The former Bayern Munich player’s current contract term is about to end in 2023. However, he hasn’t penned down any new deal to stay on at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 31-year-old player has been previously linked with a move to Liverpool. However, that led nowhere. This time, it is believed that Jurgen Klopp has made a surprising promise to the German international about registering an offer for him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Liverpool does not have a performance problem with the midfield; however, the ageing issue could become a big concern in coming years. Most of the Reds’ top midfielders are either closing in on the 30 years mark or have exceeded it.
A short summary of what the future problems could look like has been experienced this season. After suffering injuries, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Thiago were sidelined for several games. This crisis obliged Klopp to push club captain Jordan Henderson to play excessive games. The English player flourished in the task; however, the German manager took a risk in this case.
