According to Mirror, Liverpool are the frontrunners to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The 18-year-old is one of the most promising young talents in the world. The British midfielder has been on red hot form for Dortmund this season. He has already scored three goals and provided eight assists in 21 games.
Bellingham has been one of the key players for BVB squad and his performance has been influential for the team’s success in Bundesliga. After losing Jadon Sancho, Marco Rose’s team continue to compete for the title with the help of such quality players.
Liverpool has been linked with Bellingham in recent times. However, it seems the Reds are closing on securing the deal. Even though the Merseyside team’s board knows that Dortmund would ask for a hefty sum of £90m for the youngster, Jurgen Klopp’s team isn’t overwhelmed by the number.
Several of Liverpool’s midfielders have already hit the 30-years mark or are close to doing so. An infusion of youth is key and in Bellingham, they have one of the best young players available in the position.
Even though Liverpool has undeniable quality in the ranks, they are not future proof. Thus some viable alternatives are needed in the Reds squad to tackle the ageing problem.
Bellingham, in just 18 years of age has shown incredible maturity and game awareness. Along with Erling Haaland, he has formed a threatening attacking partnership in the German league. The young midfielder’s creative abilities could make him a top performer in the middle of the park for the Reds.
