Liverpool face massive competition in the pursuit of 25-year-old Bundesliga star

Liverpool face massive competition in their pursuit of Denis Zakaria

According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are set to battle it out with Everton, West Ham United, Juventus, and Roma for the signature of Swiss star Denis Zakaria

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder has been one of the most exciting talents in Bundesliga. He has completed 12 German top-flight appearances this season for Borussia Mönchengladbach and has influenced the German team’s recent success. His reliable and consistent performance has attracted a handful of teams recently.

Denis Zakaria could bolster the midfield option at Liverpool.

The Swedish central midfielder gave dominating performances in recent weeks for Mönchengladbach. However, his current contract ends in the summer, and he hasn’t agreed to a renewal deal yet.

The Swedish midfielder could be planning to set the next step of his career. But he doesn’t have to break a sweat in finding a new home as some of the biggest teams in Europe has shown interest in securing his services.

Liverpool has been long linked with the 25-year-old midfielder. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team would face tremendous competition in the race. It is believed that Everton, West Ham, Juventus, Roma are all interested in signing him.

The list is far from finished as Manchester United, Manchester City, and Leicester have kept the tab on the Swiss player’s situation.

This extensive competition could land a massive blow in Liverpool’s intention to lure the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield currently has one of the highest average ages in the Premier League. With James Milner, Thiago Alcântara and Jordan Henderson within reach of the 30-year mark, Liverpool midfield isn’t getting any younger.

The results are evident. Most of Jurgen Klopp’s regular midfielders suffered injuries this season. Missing out on the qualities of critical players landed the German manager in hot water during some games.

Zakaria has already proven his worth in the big stages. Liverpool will be landing themselves a player capable of competing with the best.
