Transfer Update: Liverpool are interested in Atletico Madrid starlet Joao Felix

According to AS (h/t Metro), Liverpool are eyeing to lure Portuguese sensation, Joao Felix, from Atletico Madrid. 

The forward hasn’t lived up to the expectation at Atletico Madrid. The youngster has proven to be massively talented. However, he has fallen short of achieving the end product. In his 88 appearances for the Madrid team, he has bagged 20 goals and 11 assists.

Atletico acquired Felix for a hefty sum from Benfica in 2019. However, his recent form suggests that he would need some more grooming to deliver results at the Stop level. Amidst such a scenario, Atletico would attempt to acquire a considerable amount of money from his transfer. 

It is believed that Atletico president Gil Marin has already discussed the scenario with 22-year-old striker agent Jorge Mendes. The La Liga champions will let the player leave if a ‘suitable offer’ arrives. 

He is still young and guarantees a lot of top-flight years. Therefore many elite teams have shown interest in him in recent times. 

It is believed that Liverpool are also considering a move for the Portuguese starlet. However, the Reds face tremendous competition

Liverpool has a short term need for a forward due to the African Cup of Nations tournament. Felix is however not just a solution for now but also for years to come.
