Transfer News: Real Madrid are ‘monitoring’ Liverpool defender Joe Gomez

According to Daily Mail, Real Madrid are interested in bolstering their defensive options and are analyzing a potential move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez in the summer.

The Englishman was a key player for Jurgen Klopp in the seasons gone past. But the signing of Ibrahima Konate has limited the Englishman’s minutes on the pitch this season. The 24-year-old has only featured in nine matches across all competitions this season.

But his game time majorly includes cup tournaments in this campaign. This lack of game time could hurt the Reds’ intentions of keeping him at the club.

Real Madrid, who are looking to bolster their defensive options and are keeping an eye on the developments regarding Gomez at Liverpool regarding a possible move in the summer.

The Reds currently have a plethora of options in their defence. But last season’s injury disaster is fresh in the mind of Jurgen Klopp and co. and the Merseysiders will look to avoid such a crisis in the future. But keeping players on the bench will not help Jurgen Klopp sustain their interest to stay put in Liverpool.

On the other hand, the lack of game time with Klopp’s team is affecting Gomez’s chances to feature for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 24-year-od defender enjoyed a good run with the three lions when he was a regular at Anfield.
