Kelechi Iheanacho confident that Leicester know how to play vs Liverpool ahead of Premier League showdown

According to LCFC TV (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that after featuring in many games against Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers’ team know the mantra to dominate the 2019/20 Premier League champions.

Liverpool vs Leicester has become a pulsating match-up in recent times. Even though Jurgen Klopp’s team have come out successful in most games, the Foxes’ have usually given stiff competition to the Reds.

They faced each other in the Carabao Cup Quarter Final last Thursday. Leicester City had an advantage over the Reds with a 3-1 lead after James Maddison humdinger in the 33rd minute. But Jurgen Klopp’s team came from behind and equalized through Takumi Minamino’s goal in the dying minutes of regular time. We then won the game in the penalty shoot-out courtesy of heroics from Caiomhin Kelleher.

Leicester City centre forward Kelechi Iheanacho didn’t feature in the last game. But the Nigerian believes his side knows the opponent very well and suggested that they would take the game to Jurgen Klopp’s team.

“We’re looking forward to it. We played them in the cup, and it obviously was a good game, but we lost. When you play a team like them, you know how they play, you know about the players, and you know how to hurt them as well, how to attack them. We know about how they play, and hopefully, we give them a game.”

We are currently unbeaten in our last five matches. Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered a setback when key players were out due to injuries. But the German manager revealed in the recent press conference that they would have an all-fit team against the Foxes.

Manchester City are currently 6 points ahead of us and therefore, we need a victory against the Foxes to decrease the gap. Rodgers has had a mixed career since he made way for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in October 2015 and it’s safe to imagine he would think he has a point to prove against our team whenever he faces us.

Perhaps that was the reason why he put out a very strong line-up against the Reds in the Carabao Cup quarter-final despite knowing he has league games against Man City and Liverpool shortly after. That, however, cannot be said for certain because the League Cup is a trophy many teams still value and want to win.

Mohamed Salah is in scintillating form this season, and with every match, his goalscoring abilities are getting more ferocious. Furthermore, Sadio Mane and Diego Jota are also in great shape. With a great midfield and backline, Jurgen Klopp should have the upper hand over Brendon Rodgers’ team and show Iheanacho, who has 6 losses, 1 draw, 0 goals and 0 assists in the 7 games he has played against Liverpool, that his side does not have us sized up contrary to the Nigerian’s belief.
