According to Spanish publication Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are preparing to make their first offer for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma.
Arnaut Danjuma joined Villarreal in August 2021. The move has worked extensively for both parties. The Dutch forward has become a key performer for Unai Emery lately. The 24-year-old has already bagged nine goals and three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions and looked sharp in the last few matches.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Danjuma in recent times. Now, it seems Jurgen Klopp is looking for fresh options in the ongoing transfer window to bolster his forward line. It is believed that Reds are reading to table an offer worth €45 million (£38 million) for the Dutch striker.
Liverpool have had their issues with injuries and Covid-19 this season. With Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah departing for AFCON earlier in the week, the Reds face yet another handicap. Roberto Firmino recently returned positive for the Covid test and has been sidelined. So, Reds would be without their three first-choice forwards for the coming weeks.
It was anticipated that Harvey Elliott could feature in a lot of matches in this campaign. However, the Reds youngster suffered a horrible injury against Everton in the earlier phase of the campaign and since has been sidelined.
To make things even worse, Divock Origi has also remained sidelined after suffering an injury in recent time.
Therefore, Danjuma could help Jurgen Klopp if the Liverpool board scintillates the move in the ongoing transfer window. The Dutch star also provides a future guarantee and could become a long term replacement for Sadio Mane.
It’d be difficult to lure Danjuma from Villarreal in the middle of the season. However, the lucrative transfer fee could convince them in selling the forward.
