Krawietz strongly hints at Jurgen Klopp return date ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup tie

Peter Krawietz hinted that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could make a return to the touchline

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool assistant manager Peter Krawietz has suggested that Jurgen Klopp has recovered well and could return to the field.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp returned a positive Covid-19 test ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash against Chelsea on 2nd January. The German has remained isolated since then and couldn’t oversee his team’s development in recent weeks.

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t oversee Liverpool training sessions in the last few days.

Due to the isolation of Liverpool’s head manager, the responsibilities were transferred to the Reds’ no. 2 coach, Pep Lijnders. The assistant manager took charge of the team from the touchline during the 2-2 draw against Chelsea. But Covid had other plans.

A day before Liverpool’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, Pep Lijnders also tested positive for Covid-19 and had to be isolated. Due to the surge in Coronavirus cases at the AXA Training Center, the club’s request to postpone the match against Gunners was accepted by the EFL. Even though Jurgen Klopp’s team didn’t have to face many games without their German boss, it must have had a massive effect on their training sessions.

The Merseyside team is currently without their no. 1 and no. 2. Amidst such a scenario, assistant manager Peter Krawietz was responsible for overseeing the press conference ahead of our FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury.

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders both are currently in isolation.

Peter Krawietz has given a positive update on Jurgen Klopp’s health and suggested that the Liverpool manager could be back for the game against Shrewsbury if he passes the Covid-19 test.

“We hope [Jurgen] will be involved. He is fine. He has to do tests as well, we hope.”

Liverpool started the game against Chelsea in an exemplary fashion. However, the Reds couldn’t hold onto their lead and fell prey to Thomas Tuchel’s counter-attacks. The team’s attitude during that dreaded 5-minute spell against the Blues was shocking, and one would wonder if it would have been allowed to happen if Klopp was in charge of the team that day. The draw has pushed Jurgen Klopp’s team 10 points behind league-leaders Manchester City.

It would bode well for us to have Klopp back as soon as possible. With all due respect to our opponents today, they aren’t really the toughest side we can face. So, it wouldn’t be a big miss if Klopp was to sit this one out. Lijnders hasn’t done anything to prove that he is anywhere close to being the head manager of this club.

So in that regard, we need an experienced head on the touchline to see us through this busy January period. If not, the Reds boss should surely be back for our first-leg Carabao Cup semi-final tie against the Gunners on Thursday night.
