Transfer News: Liverpool keeping close tabs on West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are said to be keeping close tabs regarding a potential move for West Ham United star, Jarrod Bowen in the summer.
It is claimed that the player is open to a move away from London, and Liverpool scouts were present on Wednesday night in order to watch the player’s performance at close quarters.
Bowen certainly gave the Reds’ scouts plenty to talk about. The forward scored both goals in his side’s 2-0 win over Norwich City in a scintillating attacking display at the London Stadium. If anything, Liverpool could not have picked a better night to scout the 25-year-old.
The Englishman has been linked to Liverpool in recent months due to his performances for West Ham United over the last few months. Given that the Reds are also interested in Leeds United’s Raphinha, it is evident that an attacking reinforcement is a priority.
However, Liverpool fans may not expect to see Bowen this transfer window, with a move in the summer more likely to occur. West Ham are reportedly looking to ‘strengthen their attack rather than weaken it’ this January. Given that they are in contention for a top-four spot, weakening themselves at the cost of strengthening a direct rival is unthinkable.
Bringing in a forward this month as cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be a priority for Klopp, and Bowen will be a suitable option for the German. However, despite various rumours of bringing a player to Anfield during January, Liverpool have had a quiet transfer window so far.
Despite a January move for Bowen ruled out, it is encouraging news to see that the player himself is open to a move to our club. Jurgen Klopp and co should do all they can to land the player in the summer. At 25-years-old, the West Ham forward is yet to hit his prime, and Klopp can certainly aid him in taking his game to the next level.
Bowen has been in excellent form for West Ham this season. With enough Premier League experience under his belt since his move to London from Hull City, the Englishman will be expected to hit the ground running for us if his move to Anfield is confirmed.

With our forward line ageing, Klopp may be looking at young superstars to take their place when the time comes. Bowen has proven his mettle in the Premier League and he could fit in like a glove at Anfield.
West Ham, however, will be keen to keep their superstar beyond the summer. Just who will get their way in the transfer tussle remains to be seen.
