Klopp gives verdict on reaching 350 games as Liverpool manager vs Brentford

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addresses his upcoming 350th game in charge of the club against Brentford

Speaking to reporters ahead of his 350th match as manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp said he was happy and proud of all that he had achieved so far, as per the club’s official website.

The German takes charge of the club for the 350th time against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday since his arrival from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2015- with whom he spent seven years as manager.

When asked about his preparations for the momentous occasion against the Bees, the Reds boss admitted that numbers do not matter to him, although 350 was a nice, round number to achieve as manager.

“I’m really happy and really proud of the things we achieved here so far, but it’s not that I think a second about it, to be honest. It’s all good but these numbers are not important to me, but 350 is a nice one – better than 15 and out.”

The former Dortmund manager has been a success at Anfield, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. However, he will most fondly be remembered by the Kop for being the man that led them to their first Premier League trophy after decades of disappointment.

Klopp admitted that as manager of the Reds, competing in multiple competitions, there is always an expectation to win the next game, which could be a task for most. However, he praised the players for getting him through it all and referred to Liverpool as a fantastic club.

The German also hinted at staying on for a few more years at Merseyside, hoping to enjoy them as much as he has enjoyed his time up until now.

“It’s a fantastic club. I’m really happy about the time we had here so far and I hope to enjoy the next few years as well.”

After years of underwhelming performances and harsh defeats, credit must be given to Klopp for turning our fortunes around in such a short time at the club and bringing home long-awaited silverware back to Anfield.

The road has not been easy for the German, having to suffer heartbreaking losses in the Europa League and Champions League finals, before he eventually found success with us. It is an ode to his man-management and team-building skills that he took us from where we were under Brendan Rodgers to becoming one of the most feared teams in the world.

Things have been particularly uneasy for him in the last year and a half, with the club not making many major signings to supplement his squad’s depth while injury issues have often rendered our team helpless. Despite all of that, he has still ensured that we are an outside contender in this year’s title race.

Klopp has brought in top-quality players and cultivated some of the world’s best talent during his tenure with us, and we can hope that he stays on at the club for a few more years and brings even more joy to the fans. We can hope that the Brentford match on Sunday brings another win for us, and the London club does not rain on Klopp’s parade at Anfield.
