Sadio Mane confesses he would love to play with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe at Anfield
Speaking to L’Equipe as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane says that he would love to play with Kylian Mbappe, if the latter was to join the Reds this coming summer.
French star Kylian Mbappe has his contract expiring with PSG in the coming summer. No new deal has been agreed with the Parisians yet and big clubs around the world are interested in signing the 23-year-old forward on a free transfer.
Real Madrid are said to be long-time suitors for the exhilarating striker with a £146m move falling through last summer. The Los Blancos will be trying for Mbappe again come the summer, and the Reds will be in for a tough battle if they indeed want the forward.
Whilst Mbappe has still not closed the door on renewing at the Parc de Princes, SPORT (h/t Liverpool Echo) claim that the French forward may not be convinced by the project at Bernabeu and is exploring other options.
The Reds are said to be interested in signing Mbappe but the 23-year-old’s exorbitant wage demands may turn out to be a stumbling block for Liverpool. That is pretty obvious, considering how the Reds are still haggling over Mohamed Salah’s renewed wages in a potential new contract.
Talking about the prospect of Kylian Mbappe coming to Anfield, Senegalese superstar Sadio Mane had glowing praise for the French international, who made his name at AS Monaco in France while Mane was busy setting alight the PL with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.
“I would like to play with him, of course. It would be an exceptional attack.”
Could Liverpool get Mbappe?
Liverpool are in a contract deadlock with Mohamed Salah and may have to reinforce their forward options if the winger was to leave. His contract expires in 2023 and he will be a free agent if the Reds fail to renew his deal.
Mane and Roberto Firmino are in the same boat and their current contract will expire at the same time as Salah’s. There are not many players in the world you can sign who will be considered an upgrade on Salah, but signing a 23-year-old Mbappe will be just that.
Mbappe, at just 23, has already set the world alight on the biggest stages and if he continues in the same vein his potential is very scary. Already a superstar in his own rights, coming to Anfield and playing for a very good team under a very able coach will help elevate the Frenchman’s status to the next level.

The Reds have been sceptical in matching their star player Salah’s wage demands to renew his contract so it remains to be seen if they are willing to take that extra step for Mbappe. If Liverpool indeed decide to sign Mbappe and the Frenchman decides to come to Anfield, it could end up being a match made in heaven.
