Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave his honest assessment regarding the Premier League race after their victory against Arsenal

In his post-match interview (h/t Sky Sports), Jurgen Klopp shared his thoughts regarding their Premier League title chances after Liverpool recorded a clinical win against Arsenal. The German boss asserted that momentum is very fragile, hinting that they need to take every game as it comes.

The Reds have been in fine form recently having won their last nine PL fixtures. The Merseysiders are now within touching distance of Manchester City and trail the Mancunian club by only one point in the top tier of English football.

Liverpool also managed to get their hands on their first major trophy this season, last month when they lifted the Carabao Cup. The Anfield outfit seems to be in stellar form and managed to get past the North Londoners who put up a tough fight at the Emirates Stadium.

While everything seems to be going in favour of the Reds, Klopp has warned us that there is certain frailty to things when you play matches with such an alarming frequency. This is especially true when you compete on several fronts throughout the season.

In his post-match comments (h/t Sky Sports), the German manager went on to highlight how deceptive momentum can be at times. He also spoke about how Manchester City and Liverpool have pushed each other to some staggering levels off-late.

“Momentum is the most fragile flower on the planet. If someone walks on it, then you have to work to get the momentum back and just get through it. A rhythm is good but a rhythm is playing every four days, three days, it is a rhythm but it is an intense one, we are not complaining, we want to be in all competitions.

“I really don’t think a lot about City, that is the truth. I know the only chance we have is to win an insane amount of football games because our opponents win an incredible amount of football games. The last few years, we have pushed each other to insane levels”

Is the title within sight?

Despite Jurgen Klopp hinting that we should err on the side of caution when it comes to building any momentum, one cannot help but get a little carried away when you take into account their recent performances.

After the victory against the Gunners, Andy Robertson was also quick to assert that he would ‘rather be in Man City’s position’. While this may seem like a humble approach to the game it could also be a psychological trick to help put the pressure back on the Citizens who are holding out with a narrow lead at the top.

The Reds seem to be rejuvenated this season with January signing Luis Diaz already making a great impact, and summer signing Ibrahima Konate putting in pivotal performances from time to time.

Klopp seems to have got his rotation right on the money this season. Their only loss in recent memory was against Inter Milan in their UEFA Champions League tie. This defeat could seem inconsequential in the larger scheme of things as Liverpool managed to qualify to the next round.

The Reds are flying high and the possibility of a quadruple is very much on the cards. With the matches now coming thick and fast, anything can happen, and maintaining their intensity can get a bit laborious.

The Merseysiders have certainly shown that they have the capability to get over the line in the last couple of seasons. Their last campaign was marred by injury issues and they could be hungry to add some more titles in their kitty to make up for it this time around.
