Liverpool are pushing for the signature of Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are pressing on to secure the services of Swedish forward Alexander Isak.
The 22-year-old has been impressive for the La Liga side and played a pivotal role in their Copa Del Rey triumph in 2020-21. He went on to put up some staggering numbers as he bagged 17 goals and clocked two assists in 44 matches across all competitions last season.
The youngster has struggled to recreate that same kind of form this campaign, but still remains one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment. The likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are also thought to be interested in the Swedish striker at the moment.
With Isak showing some great potential, Real Sociedad are thought to be firm on their decision of not taking anything less than the €90m release clause in his current contract. With a potential list of suitors, the Spanish club does possess the upper hand should any negotiations take place.
Should we go all out for Alexander Isak?
The club has done well in extending their forward line in the last couple of seasons by adding the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz. This supplemented by their feared trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane has given Jurgen Klopp a rich spread of options going ahead.
That being said, Divock Origi is set to be out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season. The Belgian has been a key backup but the possibility of more opportunities elsewhere could be a tempting factor for the 26-year-old.
In such circumstances, Isak could be a great acquisition for the Reds. At 22, the Swedish forward still has some of his prime footballing years ahead of him if the club can continue his development at the same trajectory.
Alexander Isak is young and mobile and shows a lot of determination on the pitch. The youngster could help future proof the attacking department. While the Sociedad forward seems like the ideal successor for our forward lineup one day there are still a lot of details that have to be taken into account.
The club would have to shell out an enormous amount of money to bring him to Anfield. They would also have to fight off potential interest from other clubs. Coupled with all of these obstacles, the Merseysiders are still embroiled in a contract standoff with Salah.

With an eye towards the future, Isak could be a great acquisition. The club should therefore try its best to lure the youngster to Anfield. The price tag could be the biggest hindrance here and the Reds would have to be careful in any attempts to pull a deal across the line.
