Transfer News: Liverpool interested in signing Jeremy Doku
According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are interested in Rennes winger Jeremy Doku. The former Anderlecht man has been a subject of long-term interest from the Reds.
Doku shot to the spotlight in the Euro 2020 shining for Belgium in a match that made the world take notice of him. He has however had an injury-ridden campaign this season for Rennes, playing just 16 games and scoring 2 goals and 2 assists.
His goal-scoring record could be a stumbling block for Jurgen Klopp to make a decision but there is no denying the fact that Doku is very talented and possesses great technical ability.
The Belgian however has a contract with the Reds until 2025 and the French club would be in no rush to sell the teenage starlet. Rennes will also be demanding a substantial fee for the 19-year-old winger.
If Doku becomes available on the market, Liverpool could be in for some competition from the elite of Europe.
An exciting prospect?
The Belgian teenager is one of the most exciting talents going around. He possesses immense flair and technical ability which makes him a joy to watch.
Doku is comfortable operating on either wing, although he plays primarily from the right. The Rennes winger is very unpredictable which makes him a nightmare for defenders.
Doku is not the finished article, and at 19 years of age, no club signing him should expect him to be one. He is capable of producing moments of brilliance but he still needs to improve his output.

Training under Jurgen Klopp might just help Doku become an all-round player, helping the Belgian take his game to the next level. The German manager is known to get the best out of players and if he manages to get the best out of the Belgian, then Liverpool could have a very exciting player on their hands.
If Liverpool indeed pursues the deal, Jeremy Doku is not a signing for the present. He could be a potential superstar in the future though.
