Dani Alves and Ben Johnson have praised Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold
Speaking to the May edition of FourFourTwo as quoted by Liverpool Echo, veteran Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has been all praises for Reds’ right-back Trent Alexander Arnold.
Alves who has widely been regarded as one of the best right-backs ever to grace the game is still going strong at Barcelona even at the age of 38. The Brazilian legend is known for his attacking game and his fabled partnership down the right side with Lionel Messi.
Trent has been one of the best players in his position in the past few years and completely redefined the role of a full-back in the modern game. Speaking about the English international, Alves said that he admires Trent along with a couple of other players but called the Reds right-back ‘world class’.
“I admire Trent Alexander-Arnold very much. He’s a fantastic footballer – this guy has got world-class skills. I also like to watch Reece James and Achraf Hakimi.”
The Brazilian superstar was not the only one who was full of praises for Trent. Speaking to West Ham TV as quoted by Liverpool Echo, another right-back who is completely on the other end of the age spectrum as Dani Alves, Ben Johnson has called the Reds full-back ‘unbelievable’.
The 22-year-old Hammers defender has had a very good season in David Moyes’ side this season. The talented right-back has called Trent a pioneer of the new definition for a full-back.
“When I was starting to play full-back Trent was just coming through in and around the first team (of Liverpool). Even from then you could see his technical ability and what he brought to Liverpool. Unbelievable his passing!”
The best?
After a slightly disappointing 2020-21 season by his own lofty standards which ended in heartbreak with Trent suffering a serious injury just before the Euros, the Reds youngster has bounced back in sensational fashion.
On the back of yet another sensational season for the Reds, a case could be made for Trent Alexander-Arnold for being the best right-back in world football at the moment.
The 23-year-old has scored 2 goals and provided a baffling 17 assists in 35 matches for the club this season. He is just one assist short of equaling his own personal record in a season and two short of 13 assists he provided in the league alone back in their title winning 2019-20 season.
The English defender has formed a deadly partnership with Andy Robertson in the full-back areas and has an excellent relationship with Reds superstar Mohamed Salah on the right flank.
Trent is key to whatever good the Reds do and will be hoping to sustain his form until the end of the season. The Reds are in the quest for an unprecedented quadruple and the exhilarating right-back will be key to whatever Liverpool win this season.
