Injury Update: Egyptian FA calm fears over Mohamed Salah injury
Quoting a statement from the Egyptian FA, The Mirror have claimed that there is no new injury concerns for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and that he has not aggravated his foot injury.
Salah was instrumental in his side’s 1-0 win against Senegal in the first leg of the qualifying tie for the Fifa World Cup 2022. However, the Egyptian superstar seemed to be far from his best with the Liverpool winger seemingly not very comfortable out on the pitch.
This sparked fears among the Reds faithful that their talisman could have aggravated his existing foot injury which may have kept him out of Liverpool’s extremely busy and critical April schedule.
The Egyptian superstar has already been forced to miss out on the FA Cup tie against Nottingham and started the clash against Arsenal from the bench.
However, the Egyptian FA calmed down all such fears by putting out a statement that there were no new injury issues in the squad ahead of the second leg against Senegal.
“We have no further injury issues for the qualifying tie, all of the rest of the players in the squad travelled to Senegal, and coach Carlos Quieroz has no further injury issues.”
A relief for the Reds?
The statement from the Egypt FA would have come as a huge relief to the Reds as, without doubt, Salah is their most important player.
The Liverpool winger has scored an astonishing 28 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 appearances this season and has arguably been one of the best players in the world during this period.
Despite being in a contract stand-off with the Reds, with his future at the club far from certain, there is absolutely no denying the fact that Jurgen Klopp will want his main man to be fit and firing for the gruelling part of the season.
Liverpool are in the quest for an unprecedented quadruple and they have already won the EFL Cup by getting past Chelsea. Being involved in a Premier League title race with Manchester City and also going strong in the FA Cup and the Champions League.
