Report: Interesting update regarding new contract for key Liverpool superstar

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy shares an update on contract negotiations between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah

According to Sky Sports senior reporter Melissa Reddy, Liverpool could be in a stronger position as compared to last year to negotiate a new contract for Mohamed Salah.

The rumour mill has been quite heated with respect to the Egyptian recently with some top clubs, such as Barcelona and PSG being linked with a swoop for the 29-year-old. The former AS Roma player has now bagged 153 goals and notched up 57 assists in 240 matches across all competitions for the Reds to date.

Salah’s current contract with the club expires on 30th June 2023. While things were at a standstill a while ago it now seems that there is a better dialogue between both parties. This would be like sweet music to our ears but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves till the Egyptian actually puts pen to paper on a new deal.

Whilst addressing the situation

of Salah’s new deal, the 35-year-old reporter shed light on how the club and player are in dialogue after a rough period in December.

I think reading between the lines one of the major things I took away was that the dialogue seems to improve between both parties, the club, and Salah’s camp. Now from what I gather in December talks were pretty much iced because Salah’s people weren’t happy with the terms on the table. Now it looks like dialogue has been resurrected.

Even though the Sky Sports reporter mentioned that we were in a better place compared to December, highlighted how it would be premature to think that a deal was close to being agreed upon. She then shed light on how Liverpool have grown as a team and had a realistic chance of winning a lot of silverware this season.

They are on the cusp of potentially managing a quadruple. This team is going places. He is the main man, you also look at the instant impact of Diaz, and all these things I think have conspired to put Liverpool in a much stronger position than last December.

Salah to stay at Anfield?

The 29-year-old forward has been a pivotal part of our success in the last few years. He has turned into a beast under Jurgen Klopp and on occasions can terrorize opposition defences for fun with his menacing left foot curlers that can leave the best keepers in the world scrambling for a touch.

Hence it was only natural that we were worried when it was being stated that negotiations between the player and club had stalled. While the Egyptian has previously stated that he is happy at the club, there seems to be an anxious environment with each passing day until a new deal is officially signed.

The Merseysiders have started this campaign in a strong position. They have managed to claw their way back into the Premier League race and are only a solitary point behind Manchester City at the moment.

The Reds will take on the Citizens on 10th April in the Premier League and this match could possibly decide the fate of the League. The Anfield outfit have already bagged their first major trophy of the season with the EFL Cup and have made their way into the semi-final of the FA Cup as well as the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League.

This coupled with some great purchases such as Diogo Jota and most recently Luis Diaz have put the club in a great position to dominate Europe as well as England in the years to come.

While the latest development may seem like a step in the positive direction, we hope that it isn’t being used by Mohamed Salah and his camp to leverage a better deal with some other club. As things stand Liverpool could do themselves a favour and get a new agreement done as soon as possible rather than stall it any further.
