Liverpool accelerate plans to sign Villarreal CF forward Arnaut Danjuma
According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are advancing their plans to purchase Villarreal CF ace Arnaut Danjuma. It is believed that the 25-year-old is wanted by Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
It is understood that the club has already been in touch with the agents of the Dutch forward. A £50 million price tag is being put on his services but it seems unlikely that it would ward off interest from the Merseysiders or any other suitors.
The former Bournemouth man has bagged 14 goals and provided four assists in 30 matches across all competitions for the Yellow Submarine so far this campaign. He has been mostly deployed as a centre-forward by Unai Emery but has also played as a left-winger and second striker this season.
Danjuma to Anfield?
The Reds have built their success on the exploits of the attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino in the last few years. The Brazilian striker has provided a strong foundation in our effort to bag more silverware in the past years.
That being said, the club could do well to future-proof the attacking setup as Firmino is now in his 30s. Danjuma who plays a similar role can thus be a great successor to ‘Bobby’ if developed properly.
At 25, he still has some of his prime years ahead of him and his versatility could help him slot into different roles under Klopp. We have seen the club purchase the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the last few transfer windows to help spruce up the forward line at Anfield.
Whilst Jota has made a strong claim for a starting position ever since making the switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Diaz has also settled in pretty well in a relatively short span of time at Anfield.

This has added more strength to our options going forward and Danjuma could be viewed as the perfect successor to the Brazilian international. His previous experience in England with Bournemouth could help him adapt faster to the conditions at Anfield should such a move materialise.
While it may be early days, we have seen how new signings are already starting to make a substantial impact this season. Hence there is absolutely no reason why the Dutch forward couldn’t hit the ground running at Anfield, especially under the expert guidance of our German manager.
