Twitter reaction: Liverpool manages a gruelling draw against Manchester City in key Premier League matchup
Liverpool settles for a hard-earned draw against Manchester City in the Premier League. Both clubs had to settle for a point that leaves the Premier League title race wide open as the teams are separated by a solitary point.
The Citizens opened the scoring via a deflected effort from Kevin De Bruyne in the 5th minute. That set the stage for an exciting half as Diogo Jota equalised in the 13th minute with a calm finish that rattled the net of Ederson.
Gabriel Jesus then restored the lead for Man City in the 36th minute after managing a smart run at the back post which saw him go totally unmarked. The home team had a major chunk of the better opportunities in the first half but the Merseyside club started the second half with a bang.
Sadio Mane slotted the ball past the Brazilian keeper in the 46th minute after an amazing defence-splitting through ball from Mohamed Salah. Both clubs went toe to toe in the second half and largely lived up to the hype.
Raheem Sterling put the ball past Alisson Becker in the second half as the Etihad erupted only for it to be ruled out as offside by VAR. Riyadh Mahrez came close to making it three goals for the defending Premier League champions as his freekick in the 89th minute hit the post and deflected away for a goal kick.
Some fans react as Liverpool grind out a draw against Manchester City in the Premier League.
We take on the Citizens once again on 16th April in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and we would be hoping to put up a better result on that occasion. Every point becomes crucial as we head into the business end of the season and this result has set the stage for an exciting showdown.
