Transfer News: Liverpool could make a summer move for RB Salzburg star Luka Susic
According to HITC via BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool could make a summer move to land talented RB Salzburg midfielder Luka Susic.
The 19-year-old is making waves in the Austrian Bundesliga and has already been compared to Croatian maestro Luka Modric. Should he turn out half as good as the Real Madrid man, Liverpool could very well land themselves a potentially world-class talent.
A central midfielder, he has made 64 appearances for the Austrians, scoring nine goals and making four assists. Possessing good vision and passing ability, he has what it takes to become a playmaker from deep.
Susic is already a full Croatian international, having made his senior debut for the national side in the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. As long as he continues along the same trajectory, there is no reason to believe that it is the first of many senior caps.
What next for Susic?
Liverpool for their part will compete with Juventus and AC Milan for the youngster’s services. Securing the 19-year-old will be key given Liverpool’s ageing midfield.
Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago Alcantara are all in their thirties and are not getting any younger. More so, the likes of Curtis Jones still have ways to go before they can be relied upon on a consistent basis.
The Reds have done business with Red Bull-owned clubs in the past. Takumi Minamino arrived at Anfield from Salzburg while Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konata were signed from RB Leipzig. Sadio Mane too made a name for himself at Salzburg before moving to Liverpool via Southampton.
Whether Susic will be the next player to shift his allegiance to Liverpool remains to be seen. While we already have a superstar in the making in Harvey Elliott, it is always wise to get in a handful of starlets that can safeguard the club’s future interests.

The Reds have a solid squad with the right mixture of youth and experience. Jurgen Klopp and co have in recent windows started to revamp the roster by bringing in younger players that fit the system.
With Fabio Carvalho already lined up, adding Susic to the squad will hand the Reds yet another special talent to develop. Whether the Croatian will follow the Fulham youngster to Anfield remains to be seen.
