Transfer News: Liverpool interested in signing Angers starlet Mohamed-Ali Cho
According to RMC Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are amongst the clubs interested in signing talented young French striker Mohamed-Ali Cho.
The 18-year-old striker plies his trade for French club Angers in Ligue 1 this season. The former Evertonian and PSG youth player has played 26 games this season, scoring 2 goals during this time.
Whilst the stats might seem very underwhelming for a striker, the Angers striker is rated very highly and many clubs around the world want to sign him. Angers would be willing to sell their prized asset for a club-record fee, seemingly more than the previous £20million they received for dynamic playmaker Jeff Reine-Adelaide.
Liverpool are not said to be the only club interested in the striker, with Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid said to be keen on signing the teenage starlet as well.
Adding to the depth?
Divock Origi is expected to be on his way out in the summer on a free transfer after failing to renew his contract with the Reds. This will open up a spot in the attack for Liverpool.
The Belgian has established himself as a cult hero at Anfield scoring crucial goals over the years. Replacing him is going to be a task for Jurgen Klopp and the Reds- a player who can settle for playing as a second fiddle to our main men and making an impact from the bench.
Whilst Mohamed-Ali Cho may not directly replace Origi given the former’s relatively young age and inexperience in England, he is still very young and has a lot of room to grow. He is talented and one for the future and Liverpool could take a gamble with him.
The Frenchman could take up a backup role at Anfield filling in as and when required. However, signing the 18-year-old comes with its own perils. It is very difficult to see the Angers striker get any regular game-time at LFC.
Not playing is only going to prove detrimental to his career. For a young player with a high ceiling, not getting game time is a problem. But then again, Klopp has shown that he gives due chances to youngsters if they prove their worth.
Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Harvey Elliott are just a few examples of that. Then again, the youngster would have to join Liverpool in the first place for us to start cooking up scenarios in our head.

Also, Cho is far from a finished product and it would be a gamble for the Reds to sign him. The fee being demanded for him isn’t a small price and it remains to be seen if Liverpool go down this route in the near future.
