Transfer News: Barcelona hold talks with the agents of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah
According to Liverpool Echo, Barcelona are making moves to lure Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to Camp Nou in the near future.
Salah has been one of the best players in the world for quite some time. Scoring 30 goals and 12 assists in 42 matches across all competitions, the Egyptian has continued his ravaging form this term. He has maintained a kind of consistency that is hard to match for even the best of players.
However, the Egyptian doesn’t have the same stability regarding his contract situation. Despite several attempts from the club’s board, he hasn’t signed a renewal yet. And that would naturally worry those associated with the club- from the manager to the fans.
Having a CV filled with individual as well as team accolades, he wouldn’t have a shortage of suitors if he decides to leave. Given his form and his age, there would be plenty of teams that would want a player like Salah banging in goals for them week in, week out.
It is believed that Barcelona have met with Salah’s entourage to discuss a possible deal. The Catalan giants have been interested in the Reds star for quite some time and are ‘not giving up hope’.
What Barcelona’s approach means for Liverpool
Salah has been a loyal servant to LFC ever since his move from AS Roma in the summer of 2017. His attitude on the pitch and in the media remains one that shows his love for the club- which is expected given how widely loved he is at Liverpool.
But then again, it is understandable why the club may take so long with a deal. With the apparent demands of wages that exceed £400,000-a-week, Liverpool would understand how this can impact the wage structure at the club.
In a recent interview with FourFourTwo (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Reds forward even revealed that it’s not just about the money. Even though there is no real clarity about what is stopping him from penning down a new deal, things can get out of hand if our board delays the process.

Barcelona’s interest suggests that Salah is well-liked outside Liverpool and given the Catalans lost Lionel Messi last summer, they could use a global icon like the Egyptian to become the global face of the club.
