Twitter Reaction: Liverpool fans react as Naby Keita scores to seal win vs Newcastle United

Liverpool had a big task on their hand when they faced an in-form Newcastle United side on Saturday. The Magpies were on a four-game winning streak and with Liverpool having played a tiring game against Villarreal last week, an early kick-off didn’t help our cause today.

Nevertheless, a beautiful piece of footwork from star midfielder Naby Keita sealed a brilliant win for Jurgen Klopp’s men. The Guinea international received the ball inside the box, went around Martin Dubravka, and slotted the ball home.

That 19th-minute strike proved to be the only goal of the game. Newcastle barely ever threatened our goal, and when they did, the offside flag was waved in their faces.

It was a truly professional performance from a team that knows they cannot put a single foot wrong. Manchester City still led them by 1 point before the kick-off at St. James’ Park today, and can regain their lead if they beat Leeds United tonight.

Big win for LFC

However, the most the Reds can do now is keep winning their games. The likes of Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah were dropped from the starting XI today with a second leg clash against the Yellow Submarines in mind.

Nevertheless, Joe Gomez put in a wonderful shift down the right-hand side while James Milner did well in midfield. Jordan Henderson was decisive in the number 6 role and along with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, kept Newcastle’s attack at bay more often than not.

The Reds currently lead the PL table with 82 points from 34 games. The Cityzens, however, are just 2 points behind us with a game in hand. Here is how our fans reacted on Twitter after the full-time whistle.
