Jurgen Klopp heaps praise on Liverpool stars as quadruple bid steams ahead
According to The Independent, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on his Reds squad following their 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday night.
The Liverpool manager made five changes to the side that defeated Villarreal at Anfield earlier in the week. Several senior stars had to settle for a place on the bench but the player who stepped in for them did a fine job indeed.
Naby Keita’s 19th-minute goal turned out to be the winner, keeping Liverpool’s bid for a quadruple alive as we enter May. Klopp is well aware of his squad’s strengths and was vocal about it.
He believes every player in the Reds’ squad, whether on the pitch or otherwise, has the right mentality to do a job for the club when needed. With games coming thick and fast, rotation will be key in the upcoming weeks.
“The boys who didn’t come on today, you should have seen their faces on the bench on the final whistle. It’s absolutely outstanding.”
Klopp went on to add that the players are not just good footballers but also have the right attitude off the field. That certainly makes his job easier.
“The group is exceptional, exceptionally talented and with real character, and that’s very helpful.”
A prime example of Klopp’s comments is Joe Gomez who replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold in the starting lineup. He was excellent on the night and was there to snuff out any opening Newcastle had in the game. It is fair to say that he proved his worth in the squad once again.
James Milner was also solid in the middle of the park while Diogo Jota was always going to give it his all on the pitch when he played alongside Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane. It just goes to show the quality of the depth Klopp possesses right now.
