Transfer News: Liverpool register their first bid for Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool.com), Liverpool have tabled a lucrative offer to Monaco for the signature of their talented midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Frenchman has performed exceptionally well in the last few campaigns. His output this season has stunned many rival managers as the midfielder has constantly put out mature performances. Apart from managing his usual holding midfield role, he has also impressed at the other end, scoring five goals and two assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Tchouaméni’s significant growth hasn’t gone unnoticed as some European top tier teams, including Liverpool and Real Madrid, have been keeping a close tab on him. His agent could be pretty busy in the coming summer transfer window as interested parties make their move.
Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool.com) has revealed that Liverpool have registered a ‘great offer’ that could reach £60m for the signature of the 22-year-old. It also says the offered amount could be ‘more than enough’ to persuade Monaco to sell.
A good deal for Liverpool?
Liverpool’s ageing midfield contingent suffered a mini injury crisis at the beginning of the season as James Milner and Thiago Alcântara, Naby Keita, and Curtis Jones all underwent spells on the sidelines. Even though they all have made a complete recovery, the event has notified Liverpool about the risk of playing these ageing players in regular matches.
Apart from Curtis Jones, Liverpool doesn’t have any youth players in the midfield lineup, which could turn into a concern for the long term plans of Jurgen Klopp.
Tchouameni has shown massive potential in a short period, and his maturity is evident that he can take up significant responsibilities immediately after signing for a top-tier team. With the Frenchman’s addition, the Reds would be able to field a strong starting XI in every match. As he is young, the manager wouldn’t have to worry about the long term scenario.
Liverpool’s recent offer suggests they are on the right track in the transfer race. Being first on the table reflects a sense of commitment toward the player, which could get us an advantage in the pursuit.

However, the Reds have to beat a handful of European heavyweights to win the race, which wouldn’t be easy as most of them would have the capability to raise the bar on the negotiation table.
At the end of the day, the player’s desires would play a significant role in deciding his next team. Being one of the most successful teams in recent times and having a top-tier sporting project, our club could allure the Frenchman.
