Transfer News: Liverpool superstar would welcome a move to Barcelona

Transfer News: Liverpool star Sadio Mane would be ‘delighted’ to move to Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Express), Liverpool forward Sadio Mane dreams of securing a move to FC Barcelona.

Sadio Mane has provided another stellar output for Liverpool in this campaign, having secured 21 goals and four assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. The Senegalese star has been a top-class striker in the Premier League for several years, and his contributions have helped the Reds secure major titles in the last two seasons.

However, as Mane’s Liverpool contract is closing to an end, he is looking for a new challenge. The 30-year-old is believed to have been ‘seduced’ by the Catalan team as he considers playing in Spain would give him better chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.

The Blaugrana targeted Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah, but they all seem to be out of reach at this moment. As a result, Barcelona manager Xavi has switched his focus to the Senegalese player and is confident about securing his signature.

However, Barcelona is not alone in the race as it is believed that Bavarian giants Bayern Munich are also interested in him and have already met with the 30-year-old player’s entourage.

Mane wants to finish the season at Liverpool, but he dreams of a Barcelona move in the following summer transfer window. His agent and the Blaugrana team both are aware of the player’s intentions.

Sadio Mane’s contract is running down at Liverpool.

Mane to leave Liverpool?

Since joining Liverpool in 2016, Sadio Mane has been a loyal servant to the team. With every passing year, the Senegalese star has improved his skills and used them to the advantage of the group. Having scored 118 goals and 47 assists in 265 appearances, he has already carved his name in history books.

However, Mane’s spot at Liverpool has come under threat as the team has been signing forwards aggressively in recent transfer windows. Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Takumi Minamino probably have reduced the requirement of Mane for Jurgen Klopp.

Fear for his long term future at the club could be a catalyst for Mane’s intentions for an away move. If the news is genuine, he could leave the club in the summer transfer window. As his contract is already ending, his agent would be able to pressure the club for a reasonable deal.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been Liverpool’s prime weapons.

Mane remains one of the top forwards globally and a heavy contender for the next Ballon d’Or award. Hence, it would be challenging for the Reds to replace such a high-quality player. It would surely cost the Reds a fortune to sign a player in the same category, but the big question is whether the newcomer would have the same commitment as the 30-year-old.

As Barcelona haven’t been financially stable for quite a long time, they might not have the cash to manage the Senegalese star’s wages. Amid such a situation Liverpool should try everything they can to keep Mane at the club.
