Transfer News: Sadio Mane gives verdict on his Liverpool situation amid Bayern Munich and Barcelona links

Sadio Mane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Barcelona, but the Liverpool star ignored all the off-field talk to produce a match-winning moment against Aston Villa yesterday night (h/t Daily Mail).

It was claimed that Mane’s representatives even met up with Bayern chiefs on Friday to discuss a move. This would have come as a surprise for Liverpool fans everywhere, given how secure his future at the club has seemed since his move from Southampton in 2016.

Mane started a must-win game at Villa Park and courtesy of a Luis Diaz cross, scored a brilliant header to hand us all three points on the night. And the Senegal international claims that he is currently happy at Anfield, which would come as a relief to the Liverpool faithful.

“Yeah, I am happy here, I think when we win trophies I am happier! But I think I am trying to enjoy every moment, trying to assist my teammates and I think the boys make it a lot easier for me.”

He made it a point to thank his teammates again, which is another positive sign showing how close he is with the players on Merseyside. Mane also led his Senegal side to their first-ever AFCON title earlier this year and according to some, is a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this year.

“I am honestly very happy. I am just trying to enjoy every moment and assist my teammates. Without my teammates I’m nothing.”

Keep Mane at all costs

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, and Luis Diaz may be world-class signings in their own right, but it was arguably Klopp getting in Mane from St. Mary’s that started the German’s revolution at Anfield.

Over the years, Mane has become the face of our attack alongside Salah and Roberto Firmino. Despite being 30, he shows time and again that he still has a lot of football left in him, which is why the Reds would be smart to keep him on board beyond this summer.

We do have the ex-FC Porto winger, Diaz, on the left-hand side but Mane’s reinvigorated form at centre-forward has come at just the right time- with Firmino recently out with a foot injury. The African superstar can play anywhere in attack and has been vital for us in big games this season.

It wouldn’t make sense for us to lose one of our main players, that too to European rivals such as Bayern or Barca, given how we would target the quadruple again next season. Mane has barely shown any signs of slowing down and if there is someone who has disappointed with his form this calendar year, it is perhaps his Egyptian counterpart down the right-hand side of the attack.
