Injury News: Fabinho will miss Liverpool vs Chelsea in the FA Cup final due to hamstring issue after latest scan

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Fabinho will miss the FA Cup final for Liverpool against Chelsea after a scan confirmed that he has suffered a hamstring injury.

The Brazilian superstar pulled up short when tracking back against Aston Villa just before the half-hour mark. The Reds won the game 2-1 yesterday in what was a big win for their title hopes.

However, it comes at the cost of them losing arguably their best defensive midfielder for the next few games. Joyce adds that the former AS Monaco midfielder will also sit out for the league matches against Wolves and Southampton later this month.

He is also apparently in a race against time to be fit for the UEFA Champions League final on 28th May. The showpiece occasion of European football takes place in Paris this season as the Reds take on Real Madrid in what is a rematch of the 1981 European Cup final.

Big blow for LFC

Jordan Henderson replaced the 28-year-old yesterday and had a good game in the middle of the park for the rest of the game. And it is likely that he plays in that position come Saturday.

The Englishman is one of our most dependable players and was possibly left out of the starting XI at Villa Park with Jurgen Klopp keeping one eye on the final at Wembley.

What the Reds now need to avoid is another injury in midfield. Currently, they can navigate these couple of weeks with their present squad but any setback to one of their senior stars, and we may then start seeing the likes of Curtis Jones and James Milner playing on the big occasions.

It’s not that they aren’t good enough. Of course, they are, which is why they are at Liverpool. But both of them haven’t been regular starters and could be a bit rusty. While one Englishman is too young and inexperienced to be counted on in major finals as of now, the other is arguably in the twilight of his career.

For now, a midfield three of Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, and Henderson is what we may see. But their game time has to be managed properly.
