Transfer News: Bayern Munich want Liverpool star Sadio Mane this summer
Liverpool superstar, Sadio Mane, has been linked with a surprise move to Bayern Munich in the past few days. The Senegalese superstar is on a deal that expires in the summer of 2023, with no indications of a renewal as of now.
In an exclusive piece of news, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports revealed less than a week ago that Bayern sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, expressed interest in signing the former RB Salzburg winger- with talks of a contract renewal at Anfield ‘difficult’.
The same journalist has now claimed that Bayern are still interested in the move- which is apparently ‘top secret’ as not many people are heavily involved in it. Not too much of a secret if you tweet it for the world to see!
He even claims Julian Nagelsmann is aware of the discussions. Mane, whose contract runs out next year, has been an invaluable member of this LFC side.
Mane off to Germany?
Alongside Mohamed Salah, he has become the face of this feared Liverpool attack. Having led Senegal to their first-ever AFCON earlier this year, he has played a massive role in our bid for the quadruple.
Losing him would be a blow, to say the very least. He may be 30, but he hasn’t looked like slowing down and has even made brilliant contributions for us at centre-forward in recent weeks, with Roberto Firmino having been out with a foot injury.
Cristiano Ronaldo was arguably the world’s best left-winger during his peak but with age, shifted to the centre-forward position, most notably at Juventus and now at Manchester United. Mane is now in his 30s.
So, playing in a position that arguably requires less tracking back as compared to wingers in Klopp’s system- who drop deep and help the full-backs on occasions- is always an approach we can take with him, especially with Luis Diaz producing fireworks down what used to be Mane’s flank.

But if he doesn’t intend on renewing his deal, this summer offers the best chance to cash in on him and obtain at least some money for a player who is one of the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or this year.
