Transfer News: Fabrizio Romano confirms Divock Origi has informed Liverpool of exit amidst AC Milan interest

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, AC Milan target Divock Origi has already informed Liverpool that he will leave this summer.

The Rossoneri are now working on the fine details to get a deal over the line this summer. The Reds are also apparently aware of these discussions and now look set to lose their influential striker.

The Belgian never really looked like becoming a regular starter for us ever since he arrived on Merseyside after a breakthrough FIFA World Cup 2014 campaign with Belgium. But he has, in recent years, become a legend at the club.

His goals have come in big games and at crucial times. No one can forget his brace against Barcelona to start and complete the comeback win against Barcelona in the second leg of the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League semi-final.

What next for Origi?

He then went on to score the goal to seal Liverpool’s 6th UCL title, when he scored to make it 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur. If we sit down and list all the important goals he has netted for us over the years, then it’s going to take us a long, long time.

Long story short, it is imperative that Liverpool replace the 27-year-old in some capacity. One would argue that there is not such an urgent need to replace a player who spends most of his time warming the bench.

But he has been a weapon for Klopp to use late on in games and has that x-factor that somehow helps Liverpool cross the finishing line when it matters the most. Replacing a super-sub like Origi won’t be easy.

Then again, Diogo Jota can perhaps take that role. Luis Diaz’s inclusion means that our forward line has been reinforced, with Sadio Mane taking up the centre-forward role in recent weeks. However, a new face in attack this summer is not something many LFC fans would say no to.
