Liverpool leading the race to sign transfer target’s younger brother

Transfer News: Liverpool linked with a move for Jobe Bellingham of Birmingham City

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are ‘leading the race’ to sign Birmingham City starlet Jobe Bellingham, who is the younger brother of Borussia Dortmund sensation, Jude Bellingham.

This comes as the Reds continue to be linked with a move for Jude, although a move for him looks unlikely this summer. Nevertheless, the Reds have now placed his 16-year-old brother on their transfer radar.

The teenage English playmaker can play in a number of positions across the midfield and the forward line but perhaps in the coming years, takes up a more consistent role on the pitch for whichever team he is playing.

The Reds are amongst ‘several’ clubs interested in the youngster, including Newcastle United and Manchester City. However, the Blues want to keep hold of him after his scholarship contract expires with the player already making a number of appearances for Lee Bowyer’s senior side.

Jobe Bellingham to Liverpool?

He is certainly an interesting player to be linked with, especially with his elder brother also on the club’s radar. Who knows, if one joins, the second can follow in order to have one very familiar face in the team alongside them.

But it is clear it won’t be that easy to sign him, with a number of clubs after him. Moreover, it remains to be seen what Jobe’s preference could be considering it is tough for him to get first-team minutes at Anfield.

The Reds are one of the best teams in the world with quality players in their starting XI and on the bench on a regular basis. It is unlikely that a youngster such as Jobe Bellingham has a breakthrough season so early on in his career.

Nevertheless, the chance to work with a legendary manager like Jurgen Klopp, that too for a massive PL team like Liverpool is an opportunity not many youngsters would want to miss out on. Hopefully, the 16-year-old feels the same.
