Teenager likened to Vinicius Jr set to sign new contract amidst Liverpool interest

Transfer News: Endrick set to snub Liverpool for a new contract at Palmeiras

According to Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Mirror), Endrick is set to sign a new contract at Brazilian club Palmeiras amidst interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Currently 15, the Brazilian striker has been making waves in his home country with his performances for Alviverde‘s U20 team. Due to his age, he is yet to sign a pro deal but is now set to sign a contract that runs until 2025.

Real Madrid and Manchester City have also been linked for him. It was Los Blancos

that paid £40million for Vinicius Jr back in 2018, which remains the record transfer fee received by a Brazilian club for a player.

Endrick has been likened to Vinicius, who will be in the Madrid team to face Liverpool later this month in the UEFA Champions League final. It is a shame for all suitors that Endrick will now sign a pro deal at Palmeiras.

Blow for LFC?

That means his club can now keep a hold of him for a few years and even look to charge a handsome fee for the player- one they think truly reflects the potential Endrick holds.

He is just 15 and has a very high ceiling, proven by the interest in him from multiple European sides. The Verdao youth product has six goals in seven Copinha games this calendar year and has represented Brazil’s U17

team.

The Reds have a talented young striker of their own in their ranks. Oakley Cannonier, the 18-year-old striker who was the kid to throw the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold for that corner-kick in the 4-0 win against Barcelona, has 22 goals in 23 Premier League U18 games this season.

So, it’s not like this is the world for the Reds. And signing a contract doesn’t mean the player will stay in Brazil forever. Of course, Liverpool would be wise to go back in for him in the future if he maintains his current trajectory of development.

But until then, we have a very strong academy at Liverpool that has given us the likes of Trent and Curtis Jones in recent years. Hopefully, they produce an attacker we can slot into our front three under Jurgen Klopp in the near future.
