Transfer News: Aurelien Tchouameni open to AS Monaco exit amidst Liverpool links despite fans’ signs at training session
Aurelien Tchouameni is a name that has been linked with Liverpool in recent times, and with a summer exit a possibility, AS Monaco fans brought in signs at an open training session at Stade Louis II to convince him to stay.
Speaking afterwards (h/t Express), the 22-year-old star explained that it was always a good sign to see fans wanting him to stay. Nevertheless, he refused to rule out a move away from the Ligue 1 team this summer.
“It’s true that there are a lot of people that are hoping to see me stay. That makes me happy because it shows that I’m doing good work. As I’ve said before, what is certain is that there is one more match in Monegasque colours against Lens and after that we’ll see what happens.”
The ex-Girondins de Bordeaux player’s words hint at the very real possibility that we may see him in another team’s kit by the end of the summer transfer window. His contract expires in 2024 and Real Madrid are another name linked with signing the France international.
Where is the Tchou-Tchou train headed from Monaco?
Monaco are guaranteed a runner-up position in Ligue 1 this season if they beat Lens on Saturday night. With just one league game to go, the Monegasques need a win and for Marseille to not improve their goal difference by a big amount, with a +4 GD keeping Monaco ahead of Les Phoceens in 2nd.
With UCL football a real possibility for Monaco next season, it remains to be seen what effect Saturday’s result has on Tchouameni’s future. Nevertheless, it is pretty straightforward to assume that as of now, he stands a better chance of winning the competition if he joins giants like LFC or Madrid.
Both teams take on each other in Paris on 28th May in this season’s UCL final. The Reds have been dominant under Jurgen Klopp with only Manchester City keeping them humble over the years.
If this dynasty is to expand into the near future, signing young talent becomes important. Tchouameni can be that. Whatsmore, he can slot into our midfield straightaway given the experience he possesses at such a young age.

Having won eight caps from France despite making his senior Les Bleus debut back in September last year speaks a lot about his quality. A defensive midfielder, he can play either side of a number six in midfield as well.
