Wolves Team News: Boost for Liverpool with Romain Saiss, Max Kilman, and Nelson Semedo ruled out due to injury
Speaking in his pre-match press conference before the Premier League game against Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bruno Lage revealed that his side would be without Romain Saiss, Max Kilman, and Nelson Semedo tomorrow.
Kilman and Saiss are important first-team defenders for Wolverhampton Wanderers but both will miss this crucial PL game against the Reds tomorrow. Semedo, the right-back brought in from FC Barcelona, is also set to sit on the sidelines.
“Just Saiss at the moment. He doesn’t recover from his injury, so Saiss, Semedo has a big injury, Max also out. Daniel is coming. Nothing new, just those things.”
Lage, in his comments above, claimed that Daniel Podence is on his way back from injury. That means the Portuguese winger could be handed some playing time against Liverpool.
Toti, who returned from his loan spell at Grasshopper Club Zurich, would be expected to get the nod in defence alongside Willy Boly and ex-Liverpool defender Conor Coady.
Boost for LFC?
It remains to be seen what Lage does with Yerson Mosquera given the dearth of options at the back right now. The 21-year-old Colombian is yet to play a single minute in the PL this season.
At right-back, one would expect to see Jonny Otto start once again. Wolves’ five-man backline is a trusted tactic for their Portuguese coach but it remains to be seen what system they go with after six consecutive winless games in the league.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Fabinho were all rested against Southampton in our 2-1 win at St Mary’s. The trio picked up fitness issues in recent weeks and only time will tell if Jurgen Klopp risks them tomorrow.
Joe Gomez also hobbled off the field in the same game. With the UEFA Champions League final on 28th May against Real Madrid in mind, Liverpool can rest easy knowing Wolves can take the field without some of their major first-team stars.
