Transfer News: Real Madrid in advanced talks to sign Liverpool and PSG target Aurelien Tchouameni

According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid are ‘in advanced talks’ to sign AS Monaco midfielder and Liverpool transfer target, Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Monegasques want at least £68million for the 22-year-old midfielder and are offering him a five-year deal to move to Santiago Bernabeu. He has also attracted interest from Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds could have really done with a young midfielder like him. The price tag mentioned above seems a bit much but then again, he is very young and has shown that he can become one of the best midfielders in Europe someday.

Los Blancos already handed us a blow on 28th May when they beat us 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League final. Carlo Ancelotti started four central midfielders that day and was still outplayed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

A missed chance

With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, the Italian may have one eye on finding a long-term replacement for either of them. The picture at Anfield isn’t different.

Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, and Jordan Henderson aren’t getting any younger. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move away from the Reds, while Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott haven’t been trusted with a lot of starts recently by Jurgen Klopp.

A player in the mould of Tchouameni could have really done wonders here. Not only can he future-proof any top team’s midfield, but he is also already a readymade first-team starter in the short term.

That is shown by the fact that he already has 50 appearances this season across competitions for his club. But it seems like LFC have now been outrun in the race to sign the Frenchman.
