LFC Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp keen to sign Chelsea star Christian Pulisic at Liverpool

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ‘interested’ in signing Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.

This comes after Sadio Mane has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer. The Reds are apparently unwilling to sell the Senegalese star unless a replacement is lined up.

Pulisic would be a very smart signing if the Reds end up bringing him to Liverpool. He may not be at the same level as Mane right now- very few wingers in the world are.

But Klopp has shown that given the right players, he can make them world-beaters. Pulisic isn’t a fixed starter under Thomas Tuchel and would be aware of the heights that Mane has reached while at LFC.

Pulisic as Mane replacement?

If a space opens up due to the Senegal international’s departure, then ambitious attackers looking to make a name for themselves in the footballing world would surely take notice of that.

Pulisic has also played at Borussia Dortmund before his move to London- the same club Jurgen Klopp managed for several years before joining up with Liverpool in 2015. The USMNT international, meanwhile, is also a versatile attacker.

He can play on either flank, down the middle in attack, and even as a number 10 if required. Such versatility certainly helps, especially with his quality. At 23, he is only getting started and has his best years ahead of him.

It would, however, be a strange sight if the Blues let Pulisic, who has 21 goals in 49 caps for the United States of America, join Liverpool. Thomas Tuchel would surely want to close the gap between them and the Reds, rather than help his German counterpart strengthen his team further.
