Transfer News: Liverpool prepare hefty offer to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele amidst contract standoff
According to Anfield Central (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are preparing a £200,000-a-week offer to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona.
The French winger is set to become a free agent this summer but is yet to renew his deal at Camp Nou. And that has alerted the Reds, who are prepared to make Dembele one of the highest-paid players at Anfield.
However, LFC would have to battle the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature. And that is only natural, given his talent and the prospect of signing him for nothing in transfer fees.
At 25, Dembele continues to be one of the top players in his age bracket despite his last few seasons being marred by injuries. He still has time on his hands to become one of the world’s very best.
The former Borussia Dortmund man showed more than just a few glimpses of his potential under Xavi Hernandez at Barca. He was electric in the second half of the current season and has become one of Barcelona’s chief creators going forward.
Dembele to LFC?
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane may not be Liverpool players for too long. With their futures up in the air, there could be an opening to fill down the flanks in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Dembele is a silky smooth dribbler who is quick off the blocks. His ability to create as well as score goals himself makes him a potent asset for any team.
Klopp would be wise to go all out for the former Rennes winger. If he can remain fit for an extended period of time, there is nothing stopping him from becoming one of the world’s best.
