Transfer News: Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski reveals Barcelona offer amidst Liverpool interest

Speaking to Onet Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Robert Lewandowski highlighted the fact that he wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer, amidst transfer interest from Liverpool and FC Barcelona.

The 33-year-old striker has one year left on his contract at Allianz Arena but wants a new challenge elsewhere. He even went on to say that something had ‘died’ in him and he wants to move elsewhere to rediscover his love for the sport.

“I only want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than work. The best way is to find a solution together. Something died in me and I want more emotions in my life. An exit is the best solution for both parties.”

What would catch the eye of Liverpool fans would be his comments regarding the offers he has entertained. Lewandowski name-dropped Barcelona as a club he has considered joining.

“No other offers were even considered by me other than that of Barcelona. I want to leave Bayern, that’s clear.”

Lewa to Barca?

Perhaps it is getting too easy for the Poland international in Germany. He has won the Bundesliga every season at the Allianz Arena since his move from Borussia Dortmund.

And the goal machine has finished as the top scorer in Bundesliga for seven out of his last nine seasons in Germany. That is why a new challenge enticing Lewa is a possibility- something that makes him push himself to the limits once again.

Barcelona are clearly under a rebuild ever since Lionel Messi left last summer. Xavi Hernandez is doing a great job at Camp Nou and it seems that Lewandowski could move to Spain this summer, going by his comments cited above.

Jurgen Klopp is the manager that arguably made Lewa the player he is today during their time at the Signal Iduna Park. The challenge at Liverpool right now is battling Manchester City on the domestic front and searching for the 7th UCL title.

It remains to be seen if this appeals to the Pole or if a move to Barca, where he can become the face of their attack, is more enticing. Roberto Firmino isn’t in his best form while Sadio Mane is linked with Bayern, which creates a potential space for Lewa in our attack.
