Transfer News: Liverpool ready £3.5million bid for Aberdeen starlet Calvin Ramsay

According to the Scottish Daily Express, Liverpool are readying an opening bid of £3.5million for Scottish full-back prodigy Calvin Ramsay.

The 18-year-old primarily plays at right-back but can also do a job further up in midfield. He is already a regular for Aberdeen and made 33 appearances for them last season, scoring once and assisting nine more.

Liverpool have been aware of the teenager’s exploits and have been keeping an eye on him for some time now. With the transfer window set to open, the Reds appear set to make their move.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is ready to make their opening bid and should also offer attractive add-on clauses. Premier League rivals Leeds United are also interested in the player but the Anfield side appears to have the edge in the transfer race.

Ramsay to LFC?

Liverpool already have arguably the world’s best right-back in Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 23-year-old still has several years left in him and is an automatic first choice when fit.

Landing Ramsay should hand Klopp another reliable option and also give him the choice to shift Alexander-Arnold to midfield in the future. Although many LFC fans would want Klopp to not fiddle with what works right now.

Neco Williams could leave Liverpool.

Bringing in Kostas Tsimikas gave Liverpool depth and dimension at left-back, also keeping Andy Robertson on his toes. Trent has at times switched off defensively and bringing in competition could see him sharpen his abilities.

A move for Ramsey could be the end of Neco Williams at Anfield. The Welsh international has largely served as a backup but is talented enough to do a job elsewhere. Whether he has now played his last game for the club remains to be seen.

Ramsay is certainly an exciting young talent and the Reds will be well advised to snap him up. With Fabio Carvalho already snapped up, it would appear that Klopp is building his next great Liverpool side.
