Attacking ace’s agent in Europe to engineer Liverpool exit

The agent of Takumi Minamino is in Europe to engineer a transfer move away from Liverpool

According to This is Anfield (h/t LiverpoolEcho), Takumi Minamino is closing to an exit from Liverpool and his agent has arrived in Europe to speed up the process.

Since signing from Red Bull Salzburg for £7.25 million in January 2020, Minamino has struggled to get a regular starting role at Anfield. In 2021/22, he did himself no harm by making numerous spectacular cameos for the Reds. Indeed, he scored 10 goals in only 24 appearances including nine starts last season.

His time on Merseyside, though, looks to be coming to an end, as the Japanese star is believed to be interested in leaving Liverpool. There could be many reasons why the 27-year-old made such a decision, but it seems like he might be eyeing a better role and improved game time.

Amid such a situation several high profile clubs seem to have taken a great interest in the transfer of the Japanese star. It is believed that apart from Monaco, four English Premier League sides Fulham, Leeds, Southampton and Wolves are all keeping a close tab on the 27-year-old.

According to This is Anfield (h/t Liverpool Echo), those transfer talks have progressed to the point where his representative has arrived for talks. According to the report, Yusuke Akiyama has spoken with officials from up to five teams in an attempt to find a way out of Anfield for his client.

The Reds are unlikely to make any significant transfers this summer, with outgoings expected to take precedence. Jurgen Klopp’s side had a fantastic season in 2021-22 and, with a little luck, might have been celebrating a quadruple. As it turned out, they were only able to win the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

This summer, they’ll likely put a lot of emphasis on their midfield. With Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and James Milner all on the wrong side of 30, they are apparently trying to freshen up the area.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s circumstances might potentially be a concern for Liverpool. Mane, in particular, looks to be on the verge of leaving Anfield, and his departure will almost certainly necessitate the signing of a successor.

Liverpool will almost certainly require a large quantity of money to secure any player or players they do sign this summer. As a result, the Reds will almost certainly want to unload some of their periphery players in order to raise revenue.

Hence it seems logical to cash in on Minamino. The board should look to secure an optimistic transfer fee to invest in future signings. As the Japanese player is already looking for an exit and has clubs interested in signing him, the Reds wouldn’t have to do much in engineering a move.
