Transfer News: Arnaut Danjuma responds to claims linking him to Liverpool
While speaking in an interview as quoted by Sky Sports, Arnaut Danjuma has suggested that even though he is aware of the Liverpool interest he has no plans to move to Anfield in the following summer window.
Arnaut Danjuma has a contract with La Ceramica until the summer of 2026, having won six caps and scoring two goals for the Dutch national team. He began his football career with PSV and went on to play for NEC and Club Brugge before joining Bournemouth.
Danjuma helped Villarreal reach the Champions League semi-finals in his debut season, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer.
The winger has been linked with a move to one of Manchester United or Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window. And, while he previously stated that he had received attention from Liverpool, he clarified that there is no formal interest in a new interview with Sky Sports News.
Danjuma responded to the Liverpool speculation but made it plain that he is not looking to leave Villarreal after just one season. The winger claims he’s ‘glad’ at Arsenal and praises Unai Emery’s coaching this season.
“I did an interview in Holland saying I’m aware of the interest. They asked me if I was aware of it and I am, as everyone is. I’m aware of it, you are aware of it because it has been in the press. My phone literally went off all the time. In that sense, I am aware of it because of the media but I never actually confirmed the interest from Liverpool because the only one that confirms it to me is my team.”
The Dutchman has also added that he is only focused on his footballing journey with Villareal as he is enjoying his stay and has no plans to switch teams at this point.
“I haven’t heard anything from my team and as it stands now, I am enjoying my football at Villarreal. I am really happy there. We had a fantastic season.”
After six brilliant years on Merseyside, Mane is set to seek a Liverpool exit this summer. Bayern Munich is now the leading candidate for his services. Liverpool officials, on the other hand, are said to have mocked their second proposal.
Last season, Liverpool had problems with injuries and Covid-19. The Reds are facing yet another setback with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s futures up in the air. Roberto Firmino’s form has been inconsistent in recent seasons, adding to the Reds’ concerns.
Harvey Elliott was expected to play in a number of games throughout the last campaign. The Reds’ youth, though, suffered a horrific injury against Everton early in the season and missed the most part of the term, which might have halted his growth.

To make matters worse, Divock Origi has left the club. As a result, Danjuma might assist Jurgen Klopp if the Liverpool board approves the acquisition within the current transfer window. The Dutch international also offers a long-term solution for Sadio Mane.
However, his recent comments suggest he might not be fully committed to making the switch so early in his Villareal career. Liverpool would have the option to return for him in future, but for the moment being, we require a quality striker and the Reds should focus on acquiring one.
