Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, and Kostas Tsimikas were all away on international duty in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, as compiled by the official Liverpool website.
Tsimikas played the full 90 minutes in Greece’s 2-0 win over Kosovo, which puts them top of League C Group 2 after four matchdays. Northern Ireland, who are in the same group, played out a 2-2 draw against Cyprus.
18-year-old Conor Bradley came on as a 69th-minute substitute for Ian Baraclough’s team. They are currently third in their group, 10 points behind Greece who have won all their four games so far.
Meanwhile, Diogo Jota came off the bench in the second half of Portugal’s 1-0 defeat away to Switzerland, courtesy of a first-minute Haris Seferovic goal. The Liverpool forward’s nation lies second in Group B with seven points from four games, just one point behind leaders Spain.
This will be it for the UEFA Nations League action for these players in June. The fifth matchday takes place in September later this year.
Tsimikas has had a chokehold on Greece’s left-back position. He, however, cannot seem to displace Andrew Robertson from his helm in our starting XI on a regular basis.
Jota, on the other hand, can expect to get regular minutes in our forward line, despite the imminent arrival of Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica. Sadio Mane’s potential departure to Bayern Munich, after all, could balance things out up front.
As for Bradley, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him at Anfield. We already have Trent Alexander-Arnold in that position and are close to signing Scottish teenager, Calvin Ramsay.
