Senegal manager Aliou Cisse tells Sadio Mane to leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich
Speaking to Source A via Senego (h/t the Mirror), Senegal manager Aliou Cisse has told Sadio Mane to leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich as the German club seems to be the best fit for him right now.
The 30-year-old winger has been linked with a move to the Bavarian giants this summer with his LFC contract fast running down. The Reds have apparently turned down two bids for Mane, but expect Bayern to submit a third one, as per the Echo.
And amidst this, Mane’s national team coach has given his verdict on the Senegal star’s situation at Anfield. When asked about the situation of Mane, who has truly been one of Liverpool’s best players after his AFCON win this year, Cisse said:
“I heard about Sadio at Bayern. For me, it is a club that is of standing. Bayern is intensity, pressure football with a German coach. Sadio played in Salzburg in Austria which is a border country, and that means he is not going into unknown territory. For me, the club where he will feel the best is Bayern.”
“A club that is of standing”, “intensity”, “pressure football with a German coach”… Cisse may just have described Liverpool. It is strange he thinks Bayern is a better fit for Mane, especially when we consider the reasons that he gives for it.
One AFCON winner to another…
England isn’t an “unknown territory” for him either, having spent time in Southampton before his switch to Liverpool. Perhaps Cisse’s argument can be better explained in different words.
Mane could like a different challenge elsewhere, having won virtually every major trophy under Jurgen Klopp during his time on Merseyside. Bayern, with their hegemony in Germany, are guaranteed to be favourites for every domestic trophy they compete in.
And maybe it is just time for him to experience something different. He has had six years at Liverpool where he has been nothing but a loyal servant to the club- one that fans already regard as a legend.

He must, however, be careful in trying to weave an exit because one wrong move or comment can mean that he hurts his legacy here. As for Cisse’s comments, they hardly make sense with the logic he gives.
