LFC Transfer Update: Sadio Mane move to Bayern Munich moves closer as Liverpool plan fresh talks
According to Liverpool Echo, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are planning fresh talks for Sadio Mane, with the deal now ‘moving closer’ to happening.
Hasan Salihamidzic is said to be leading the talks from Bayern’s side and wants to strike a deal with the Reds sooner rather than later. This isn’t something that LFC fans would be surprised by.
Mane’s potential move to Bayern has made most of our fans come to terms with the fact that we can very well lose our Senegalese superstar this summer. After joining Liverpool from Southampton in 2016, he has achieved a lot at this club.
His move to Merseyside kick-started Jurgen Klopp’s reign at Liverpool and once Mohamed Salah joined a year later, the Reds really moved into 6th gear. But it now seems like a farewell is close.
Mane off to Germany?
Bayern have had two bids rejected for Mane, with the Reds awaiting a third bid that is closer to their valuation of the ex-RB Salzburg star. Now 30, Liverpool fans would have expected his form to dip.
But instead, Mane had one of his best seasons ever for club and country. The winger was instrumental to our bid for the elusive quadruple and led his country to their first-ever AFCON title earlier this year.
A move to Bayern seems like a comfortable move for him to see out the remainder of his peak years. With the hegemony they maintain in German football, he would expect to win at least one domestic title each year with the Bavarians- were he to move there.
The German giants won the Bundesliga this season and would want to do so again. With Robert Lewandowski seeking a move away this summer, Mane would be a smart replacement.

The Reds signing Luis Diaz in January and Darwin Nunez this month would assuage a lot of the fears our fans may have held about Mane leaving. A world-class forward, Mane will be missed and Liverpool fans will rightly remember him as a club legend.
