Transfer News: Journo claims Liverpool will not sign Christian Pulisic from Chelsea

According to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports (h/t the Express), Liverpool will not make a move to bring in Christian Pulisic from Chelsea this summer.

As per the Mirror in an article published all the way back in July 2020, the Reds failed to sign Pulisic in the summer of 2016, when the USMNT star was still at Borussia Dortmund.

And now Jacobs has claimed that LFC will not bring in Pulisic as a replacement for Sadio Mane considering they already have Darwin Nunez. This would come as a blow to LFC fans who would have wanted to see Pulisic play under Jurgen Klopp.

A lot of things would have pointed towards Liverpool potentially making a move for Pulisic. The American winger has played under Klopp at the Signal Iduna Park and is currently struggling for regular starts at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.

No Pulisic for LFC

The Reds have also seen Mane join Bayern Munich while Mohamed Salah is set to become a free agent next year as things stand. Amidst this, it won’t be an unwise option to sign another attacker- one who is relatively young and can become a long-term starter for us on the flanks.

But it seems like Pulisic won’t be that man. However, Jacobs does opine that the Reds could sign another forward this summer, with Divock Origi already released this summer.

That would make sense. There is a long time left in the summer transfer window and Julian Ward and co would be wise to be on the lookout for an attacker that could fit in at Liverpool.

It remains to be seen who we target- if we target anyone at all- this summer after already having signed Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay, and Nunez.
