Transfer News: Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is interested in signing for Liverpool

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is interested in a switch to the Premier League this summer with Liverpool among the clubs the French midfielder is looking to join.

According to Jason Burt of The Telegraph (h/t Liverpool Echo), the 36-time Serie A champions will consider letting the 27-year-old leave if an offer of £13million arrives their way.

The Turin-based club would be willing to let him go for a cut-price since his contract expires next summer. The player is also keen on ending his stint with the Bianconeri.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are the clubs the French national could be looking at as he fancies a move to a Premier League side with Champions League football.

A decent option in midfield

After missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, Liverpool would be wise to move for Rabiot to add more depth to the squad. The French national can slot in multiple positions in the midfield and his versatility can prove to be effective if need be.

Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho have suffered due to niggling injuries in the past and having someone like Rabiot in the side to fill the gaps can be useful.

Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita have been part of the squad for a long time and it would be a good idea to add a new face to the midfield and freshen things up a bit.

But the French national’s possible signing could hinder the development of youngsters like Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. Moreover, it remains to be seen if Rabiot is the kind of player that can force his way into the first team and make a spot his own for several years.

That is the kind of player Liverpool need, in all honesty, if they want to replace stalwarts like Henderson in the long run.

Rabiot was considered a top prospect by many fans during his time at PSG. But off-field antics have overshadowed the 27-year-old’s career.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Jurgen Klopp will ask the club to move in to sign the Frenchman this summer. But there’s no way of knowing how his potential signing might affect the squad.
