Mohamed Salah says he is excited to play with Darwin Nunez at Liverpool after signing new contract
Speaking in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com after signing a new contract, Mohamed Salah gave his thoughts on playing with new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez.
The saga is over. Salah stays. The Egyptian superstar was due to become a free agent next year but he has extended his deal that will now expire in the summer of 2025.
This comes just a few days after Sadio Mane’s move to Bayern Munich was announced which increased the anxiety around Salah’s long-term future at Anfield. But despite the Senegalese star’s departure, Salah has something to look forward to next season.
He now has a new partner in attack in Darwin Nunez- the 23-year-old Uruguayan star LFC signed from SL Benfica last month. And he has given his verdict on this potential link-up in our frontline from next season.
“I am so excited, I want to play with him. He had a good season and played good against us, home and away. Also, Sadio has left and I am going to miss him. He had great seasons with the club, so I wish him all the best. I wish Darwin all the best too to score many goals for us.”
The evolution of LFC
Salah noticed what a lot of our fans did as well. Nunez was pretty impressive against the Reds when he faced us in last season’s UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. He netted twice but to no avail.
Nevertheless, it showed us first-hand just what the ex-Almeria striker is capable of. Mane played as a centre-forward towards the end of his Liverpool career.
And Nunez is touted to be a like-for-like replacement in that position. Luis Diaz has made the left flank his own and is expected to retain his starting spot.

It’s a good time to be a Liverpool fan. Salah is staying, Nunez is on board- all that remains is signing a midfielder. Hopefully, we can reinforce that area as early as possible.
